| Vision, Audition, Olfaction, Learning and Computation, Psychophysics, Decision, Behavior, Artificial Systems, Robotics My main research interest is computational vision. I mostly study visual recognition: how the brain or a machine may learn to categorize images of cars, ice cream, frogs and all the rest starting from (almost) no initial knowledge of the world. Our methods include visual psychophysics, computational modeling of neuronal mechanisms, statistical machine learning, signal processing, applied mathematics. I am also interested in using vision to study animal and human behavior, in olfaction and in sensor-based autonomous systems.
